Feed Your Baby on Demand
One of the most important parenting tips is to feed your newborn whenever they show signs of hunger instead of following a strict schedule.
Hunger cues include:
- Sucking on hands
- Rooting (turning toward touch)
- Opening the mouth
- Smacking lips
- Becoming restless
Crying is actually a late hunger cue.
Whether breastfeeding or formula feeding, most newborns eat:
- 8–12 times every 24 hours
- Every 2–3 hours
- Sometimes more frequently during growth spurts
Always consult your pediatrician if you’re concerned about feeding or weight gain.
